Joesph Maledon was born April 15, 1799 in Insheim, Bavaria. He married Maria Anna Louisa Webber January 31, 1825 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Insheim. Joseph was Catholic, Maria was Evangelical (Lutheran). Their sons were baptized as Catholics, while their daughters were baptized as Lutherans. Joseph came to America on the ship Rubicon from Le Havre, France. He landed in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 7, 1840. Maria was not on the ship with him; I have not found when she arrived here. John Joseph and Henry Maledon arrived with Joseph from Germany. John was born in 1829; Henry was born in 1821. I have not found any information on the death or Joseph or Maria; in fact I cannot find them in any census here. I also have not discovered who Henry Maledon is. He is listed as being born in1821; Joseph and Maria were not married until 1825. Henry's last name has also caused many problems. It was Maledon when he came here from Europe. The 1860 Census lists H. Malidore, 1870 lists Henry Melodon. These are mispellings. In 1880, however, he is listed as Henry Millaudon. This spelling is used from this date on for most documents. George Maledons was born in 1843 in New Orleans. He and John both later moved to Nevada; Henry stayed in Louisiana.
